"ERROR MUON VELOCITY EXCEEDS SPEED OF LIGHT IN ROUTINE ADVPARTICLE"

... does this mean we're giving CERN something else to worry about?

I would fix it but the stats server has imploded into a black hole and I'm scared to go near it.

Fortunately people at the lab have constructed an enormous solenoid to purge the excess muons from the system

we expect normal service to resume tomorrow.

Interesting thing about that picture is that it *is* a large superconducting solenoid and it *was* made at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory where I work.  But a long time ago (hence the black and white) when magnet manufacture was a more significant part of its work.  That solenoid went into the DELPHI detector of LEP (the machine at CERN preceding the LHC).  I believe it got reused in another experiment rather than thrown away when LEP was shut down, but don't know offhand which lab it's living at.  So it's a happy ending, for the solenoid.

So do any unusual/cool things happen when the muon yield reaches infinite.
