Whats the use of the option threads=x in the config.txt file?  Has it any use when you have a single processor machine?

That option is only helpful for multi-processor machines.  If you have a dual processor machine and set threads=2, then you should get two simulations running at the same time (keeping both processors busy).

If you set threads to a number greater than the number of processors in your machine, it will be less efficient because of the overhead necessary to switch back and forth between multiple simulations.
