Firefox is a different branch of development from Mozilla's browser, and has different features.  It can be detected by the value of the string window.navigator.vendor.  Smile

I agree, we need firefox support, its a much better browser than mozilla!

OK, sorry about the delay, but I've added it.

At least, I _thought_ I'd added it.  Can someone using FireFox go to this page:
http://stephenbrooks.org/browserwars/?modal=idtest
...and report what they see?  That page gives a debug of the browser detection process.

Using Firefox version 0.9.2 I show the following:

User agent string: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040707 Firefox/0.8

Homogenised form: mozilla50(windows;u;windowsnt51;en-us;rv:17)gecko20040707firefox08

IP address(es): it lists it properly.

User agent string: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040713 Firefox/0.9.1+

Homogenised form: mozilla50(x11;u;linuxi686;en-us;rv:17)gecko20040713firefox091+

Using July.13 nightly branch build as you can see, ...hmm maybe I'll go get new build as it looks good.

Actually your UA string is wrong as you said you are using 0.9.2 , but yet the UA says Firefox/0.8

The main cause of the bug is because of your installing a 0.9.x Release over 0.8 release when you should have done a clean install.

It's recommended to do a clean install, especially if you ever want to file a bug report.

James, your absolutely correct.  It is highly recommended and I didn't do it, but then again I don't typically file bug reports.

I uninstalled my old version of Firefox and reinstalled 0.9.2. It now reports it correctly.

Now . . . when do we get that Firefox icon.

Hehe yeah i'm always correct.. >_>

I always do a clean install, as in never install on top of another build of Firefox.  Common sense!

What do you mean about the Firefox icon?

Hey you guys want a nice spellchecker for Firefox?
Read instructions and make sure you select the dictionary you installed for it to spellcheck(a old workaround).

Oh wait you mean the firefox icon.

Wouldn't it be better to keep Mozilla "Seamonky" suite and the sleek Mozilla Firefox together in order to better able to pounce IE.

Sorry - obviously the word "Mozilla" is still overriding the word "Firefox" in my UA identification.  Odd because I thought I'd put "Mozilla" at bottom priority as it tends to be part of so many other things.  Will look into it.
