A friend noticed how (not very good) newspapers would so often have headlines of the form "Scientists say..." in order to raise some issue or the other.  So I went to the page http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Scientists+say%22 to find out from Google, index of the internet, just what they have allegedly been saying.  Apparently, Scientists Say:-

• Quake Movement Shifted Islands
• Evolution and Religion Can Coexist
• Antarctic Lakes: 145 and Counting
• Fish do feel pain
• Mars Viking Mission Found Life
• Mars Watering Hole Found
• Fast Food Heightens Risk of Diabetes
• Humans were born to run
• "About Animal Research..." (oh, wait)
• New AIDS Inhibitor Found
• Tsunami shock wave travelled 12,000km an hour
• PROOF Soul Exists
• Arctic ice melt to threaten Florida
• "About the Dangers of Genetic Engineering..."
• Love is the drug
• Risk of Water Wars Rising

Now, being a scientist myself (or mathematician, or at least something similar) I'm pretty sure I've never said any of those things.  I seriously doubt some of them are even true, but that's the media and their representation of science for you.

Whoever counted all 145 of those lakes in Antarctica at least had persistence, though...
