This video shows hadron beams of different energies being transmitted through the same string of nine permanent magnets, which is a prototype 22.5° section of a fixed-field hadron therapy accelerator.

Cameras 1 and 2 point at fluorescent screens upstream of the magnets and cameras 3 and 4 show the beam coming out. The Brookhaven National Laboratory NASA Space Radiation facility (NSRL) was used for 50-250MeV proton beams and the BNL Tandem Van de Graaff for deuteron beams equivalent to 10-50MeV protons.

The results show transmission over the massive 10-250MeV energy range (a factor of 5.3 in momentum) and the progression of the beam centres from one side of the screens to the other show the beam orbits were as expected. The permanent magnets (built by SABR Enterprises, LLC.) delivered up to 1.85 Tesla of field to bend the beams on this tight radius.
