How do I know when it is finished?
Stephen Brooks
2011-04-08 23:32:21
If you started with muon1 -c -q it will terminate after doing the queuecli.txt file.  You can also look to see if queuecli.txt has disappeared yet.

Sorry I didn't start with muon1 -c -q but the queuecli.txt is still there.  I do run the command line client, where would I add -q?

Looks like I've done about 25 runs according to the results.txt file.

If you left out the -q switch it will keep going even after the queuecli.txt file has been exhausted.  But you'll know when that is because the file will disappear (or at least have non-scan results in it).

I haven't received 200-249, but I've replotted the graph with what I have so far:

Looks like I'm running 5 checks every time, should I change it so it is only checking once?
Stephen Brooks
2011-04-13 12:46:30
Silverthorne: yes.  There are results earlier in this thread that you can put in results.dat to prevent your results in this lattice being the "best" and requiring rechecks.

Have about 65 results done so far, may be awhile longer.  Looks like around 63 of those ran 5 times.

Sorry, did not announce it, but just sent 0-99 your way.  Possibly more to come, have all of them in the queue, up to 999. It doesn't take that long on a Phenom II X6. Actually faster than imagined.

Sorry about that, I'll run it over.  I guess you want me to change Rechecks for best-so-far results to 1 ?

Shoot, I should read the complete topic next time...

@Stephen Brooks: Yeah, sorry, the attachment I sent was only scan1, as I followed the link in the first post.  Usually the first post should be updated with the latest information.  The 7z file requires the latest 7-zip, as it is LZMA2 compressed.

I have now downloaded the 350-399 range (the seemingly unassigned one) from scan 3, if you don't mind?  Hope this IS scan 3...

it's <Linac900Ext10d2_zoom>, you can see it in queue file

Yes, I know, and I got the lattice, too (always eager to get my hand on new lattice files, I'm a collector, lol).  I just referred to the last posted table.  After a second look the segmentation proves that it indeed is scan 3. Thanks for the hint, though.

Off topic: I have one lattice (PhaseRotC30.txt) referring to a "pi_plus_30GeV.csv" data file.  I couldn't get my hands on it.  Maybe that lattice would still fail even with the data file present, I don't know.

I've got the 500-599 redone and so the white line has appeared above the red on that section of the graph.

I wonder how you got PhaseRotC30 - I'm pretty sure I never released that one to the public project, though someone may have asked me at some stage for an archive containing "all" lattices.  The 30 means it uses a 30GeV proton beam (higher energy) to produce pions, but in fact that doesn't necessarily help us.  The pions tend to come out faster and have a higher energy spread, which is actually bad for capturing them in a linac.

350-399 almost finished.  Though I had to set rechecks to 1 to skip quarantine.  I hope that's OK (it's an extra client).  Does it make sense to return the results also the usual way?  Linac900Ext10d2_zoom is not a regular lattice.

Off topic:

I got PhaseRotC30.txt through this thread: http://stephenbrooks.org/forum/?thread=1359 - The archive contained the lattices but not the prereqs like data files etc.

I like to play with lattices sometimes, but many of them don't work because of missing data files etc. Some of them even crash.
Of course that's highly offtopic, so I stop now.

If you've set the rechecks to below 5, the results will be produced with no checksums, so no point in submitting them.

Yes, some of those lattices are weird.  But some in the other/crp directory are quite nice too look at.  They're layouts without functioning components on them though.

Submitting in general or is submitting via email to you OK (no checksums)?  If I didn't set it to 1 it would have rechecked almost all of them (I have no sample result).

OT: Yeah, I just thought that with that 30GeV data file I could get that lattice to run.

Edit: OK, I sent it anyway.

There was a result given on page4 that would do for eliminating rechecks.  You just had to add it to your results.dat before starting.

Message was from [DPC] Mr. Aldi on 2010-11-04 18:46:42

and yes, I know I've been slow returning my results.  some massive storms came through georgia 2 weeks ago, and knocked out our power for a day or so and we'd gone away on holiday for spring break before it came back up, so I started a week late.

Zerberus - I meant submitting to the Muon1 project, which removes results with no/bad checksums.  If you e-mail them to me it doesn't matter if they have checksums.

I have already sent the 350-399 range.  This time, I did not compress the file.  If it still doesn't arrive correctly, tell me, I've got to find another way of submitting, then.
