pben 2002-06-24 15:33:44 | I have a dual Athlon PC. I run two copies of the background program to keep both CPU busy. A couple of days ago I noticed that when I dailed up to brose the web two copies of the ftp connection program tried to send in results.txt! Sould I only run one copy of the background program or was I just very unluckly when I connected? Thanks, pben |
Stephen Brooks 2002-06-25 14:11:38 | Sounds like a bit of bad luck because the program typically doesn't send until it's finished a unit! I am also aware I've messed up the SMP support on the program - two threads run, but on the _same_ processor, which isn't actually much use. While writing my report I've thought of a few other things I'd like to change in the simulation too, so during July I think I'll be doing some major revisions to the code. Version 4.12 is also in the pipeline (actually it's essentially compiled here) - just a bugfix this time, and it should be up before July. But I will try to remember to start muon when I am running Win2k. It would be too bad to give distributed.net all those spare CPU cycles! |
