I would like to write rules in my firewall to allow my machines to automatically send results without leaving those ports open to all traffic.  Would someone mind giving me IP's for all servers that are currently being used for the muon project?  I can find out but was hoping somebody had this info handy to cut and paste Wink

Man there's a lot of names in the server.csv file Eek
Hoping you have xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx format Smile

Don't think that you can get a list of the IP's for all the servers.  I think most of them are static IP's and therefor would work, but a couple of the servers are dynamic IP's and therefore won't do you any good to put thier IP in your firewall settings as it might be different a week or 2 down the road.

yes, some may be dynamic, but the odds are they'll keep the same class C subnet.

For example, www.stephenbrooks.org is 63.251.4.188 right now, and you could put it as 63.251.4.x and be pretty safe.

Since the program will keep trying until something works, if you put all of them in with the last octet as an "x", your firewall should be happy.

this is the current servers.csv

www.stephenbrooks.org 63.251.4.188
intheory.ath.cx 65.27.169.118
blank-it.dyndns.org 217.227.81.242
cgmuonftp.homelinux.org 80.223.200.30
llmet.infosharkz.com 216.193.211.196
netze.serveftp.net 80.135.61.234
zeonx.mega-reviews.com 202.173.159.138
muon1.superstring.org 67.72.68.34

good luck.

Finally got around to writing the new rules.  Turns out I 'set network range' then enter xxx.xxx.xxx.1 to xxx.xxx.xxx.255 in order to get the job done...Winroute Pro
Feel alot better now.  Once i've tested it I'll batten down the firewall Smile
Wrote a rule to log the communications from muon1 client and sure enough the first one in your list is the one I hit.  Thanks for the help.

Great.  The more secure you feel, the more likely you will add more power to the DPAD quest.

btw, fellow Texan, have you considered joining one of the DPAD TeAms??

Being a Texan, you may consider joining the Dutch Power Cows

Yeah.  I feel much better.  Felt naked with the firewall off.  I went and added a couple part time xp2200 machines and a part time celeron 1ghz to my liquid cooled dual 2304mhz barton monster Wink
