K`Tetch 2011-07-16 00:39:16 | Since 4.3 came out in 2003, we've been through some 40 lattices. I thought it time to go through them, and show the best designs, so we can see the changes to the project over time. So, here's the first part in what will be a weekly series, taking about a year to complete, of the best designs. http://muon1.blogspot.com/2011/07/best-designs-solenoidsonly.html |
Zerberus 2011-07-16 11:34:30 | So I'm not the only one who still likes to play some with old lattices... Luckily I found the http://stephenbrooks.org/muon1/successives/ directory with some old results still there. |
K`Tetch 2011-07-16 15:37:59 | Indeed. I've had quite a bit of support from Stephen for this, he's sent me his copies of the best designs, and double-checked things for me. This had been in planning for about a month, and I've already got the next 7 done, and waiting to go. |
K`Tetch 2011-07-22 23:49:57 | And now, solenoidsto15cm http://muon1.blogspot.com/2011/07/best-designs-solenoidsto15cm.html |
K`Tetch 2011-07-29 15:47:36 | Part 3 - ChicaneLinacA http://muon1.blogspot.com/2011/07/best-designs-chicanelinaca.html |
K`Tetch 2011-08-05 17:42:09 | Part 4 - PhaseRotA http://muon1.blogspot.com/2011/08/best-designs-phaserota.html |
K`Tetch 2011-08-13 00:10:37 | Part 5 - ChicaneLinacB http://muon1.blogspot.com/2011/08/best-designs-chicanelinacb.html |
K`Tetch 2011-08-19 19:58:10 | Part 6 - PhaseRotB http://muon1.blogspot.com/2011/08/best-designs-phaserotb.html |
Zerberus 2011-08-24 03:42:47 | Great progress! I just wanted to mention that when you post designs in your blog entries, the lattice name gets thrown out on several occations. I'm sure it's because of the ''spikey brackets'' < and > misinterpreted as being HTML tags. I don't know if encoding them as < and > would help, depends on the blog software. I'd put at least a warning of some sort as you can just easily insert the missing tag after copying. [Edited by Zerberus at 2011-08-24 03:43:22] |
K`Tetch 2011-08-27 21:18:19 | Zerberus - I've fixed it where I've noticed it. I'll take another pass through them. Glad you're enjoying them. The next two are fully done (and sitting on youtube) and 2 more raw videos waiting to be processed are sitting on my laptop. Got to write up next weeks now, because I'm going to be away. hopefully the scheduler will auto-public properly Anyway, Part 7 - ChicaneLinacB90 http://muon1.blogspot.com/2011/08/best-designs-chicanelinacb90.html |
Zerberus 2011-08-28 22:43:22 | Right now it's still missing for SolenoidsTo15cm and ChicaneLinacB. |
K`Tetch 2011-08-28 23:02:16 | Ok, fixed them. Gave me an excuse to take a few minutes break from workign on a presentation. |
K`Tetch 2011-09-09 18:14:55 | Ok, I was at Dragoncon last week, so part 8 was released with Stephen's help (because I wasn't going to pay $14/day for very slow wifi). Part 9 is also up now Part 8 - PhaseRotC http://muon1.blogspot.com/2011/09/best-designs-phaserotc.html Part 9 PhaseRotC_bigS1 http://muon1.blogspot.com/2011/09/best-designs-phaserotcbigs1.html [Edited by K`Tetch at 2011-09-09 18:15:23] |
K`Tetch 2011-09-16 17:58:35 | Part 10 - DecayRot http://muon1.blogspot.com/2011/09/best-designs-decayrot.html |
K`Tetch 2011-09-23 18:08:12 | Part 11 - DecayRotA http://muon1.blogspot.com/2011/09/best-designs-decayrota.html [Edited by K`Tetch at 2011-09-23 18:08:35] |
K`Tetch 2011-09-30 17:57:20 | Part 12 - DecayRotB http://muon1.blogspot.com/2011/09/best-designs-decayrotb.html |
Zerberus 2011-10-01 20:10:56 | Your posted result for DecayRotB does not run, because the version information is missing. Need to insert the missing [v4.45] or you get an error. 1.225695 (5632.3 Mpts) [v4.45] <DecayRotB> by [TA]GLeeM [Edited by Zerberus at 2011-10-01 20:11:23] |
K`Tetch 2011-10-02 01:53:59 | it was 4.44d there. But you don't include the version in the test run anyway. That whole line should read TEST <decayRotB> The checksum won't match anyway, since I had to modify the lattice files to add a backend (although DecayRotB is the last one that needed modification) I'll add it in tho. |
Zerberus 2011-10-02 12:10:22 | If you insert it in results.dat for seeding (as I do), the version must be present or you get a ''result version < MINVER'' error. |
K`Tetch 2011-10-02 17:59:47 | Are you still running DcayRotB? I'm not *entirely* sure, but my understanding is, if you're not running DecayRotB, it won't do anything. Results from other lattices aren't used in determining designs. I base this on the fact I don't run samplefiles at all, so after week 2 I'm WAY behind on the yield (but hoping to find my own little path to the top), if other lattice results have an effect I'd be 'further up' than I am. If the lattice is turned back on, the best result will be in the samplefiles that will be re-released (and older members might have the design, or a derivative) in their clients already. Finally, so far the yields with v4.45 have all come out lower than the yields originally recorded. Part of that is due to the new seed system that was introduced in 4.43 (with DecayRotB - that one is a LOT closer) which I've noticed does come out with 5-run result lower htan the 1st run (with 10tc2 right now I saw this morning Initiating quarantine of score 1.14544 (best rechecked score for Linac900Ext10tc2 is 1.13947) and got at the end Quarantined result has now been run 5 of 5 times Result passed quarantine with score 1.13717, will be added to results file The other part is the vastly reduced jitter in earlier clients now mostly removed from 4.45 as shown here http://stephenbrooks.org/forum/?thread=1436&start=200 |
Zerberus 2011-10-03 00:07:04 | Not on my ''main'' clients doing the actual work. But I have also a client for ''playing'' (no network), and yes, it runs all lattices in variants (currently 141). That's the one I'm using the ''best'' results for. I know the lattice results are isolated, I'm using that fact for running normal seeded and non-seeded (-ns) variants of some lattices side-by-side in the offline client. [OCAU] badger 2011-11-28 05:44:24 | K'tetch, what happened to phaseRotEb6a? Link is dead. |
K`Tetch 2011-12-02 22:55:14 | Sorry there were some issues when I was doing an update, I only just noticed it, it's fixed now. (I've been really sick the last few days) Also, part 21, PhaseRotLinac1 is now up http://muon1.blogspot.com/2011/12/best-designs-phaserotlinac1.html |
Zerberus 2011-12-14 08:10:54 | Just taking the freedom to put up the latest URL (2011-12-09) Part 22, PhaseRotLinac6 http://muon1.blogspot.com/2011/12/best-designs-phaserotlinac6.html [Edited by Zerberus at 2011-12-14 08:13:08] |
K`Tetch 2011-12-15 17:19:46 | Yes, Sorry, don't know why I didn't put it up here. Thank you Zerberus. Working to put the next three up (this friday, Christmas Eve and Dec 30th) over the next day, and rig them to automatically publish since I'm going to be running around a lot the next two weeks. The RSS feed for the site, twitter (@muon1) and facebook (facebook.com/muon1dpad) will automatically update when new stuff comes out, so that's where to keep your eyes peeled, everyone. Have a great holidays. |
Zerberus 2011-12-16 09:29:35 | Just noticed PhaseRotLinac6 has the wrong design included (it is from PhaseRotLinac1, maybe a Copy-Paste error). |
K`Tetch 2011-12-16 23:07:38 | Ok, think I've corrected those errors Zerberus Part 23 PhaseRotEb60 http://muon1.blogspot.com/2011/12/best-designs-phaseroteb60.html |

Stephen Brooks 2012-03-21 23:20:50 | I clicked on the blogspot.de URLs expecting the blog posts to have turned into German as well. |
Zerberus 2012-03-22 01:31:00 | I just clicked his last URL, took the latest posts and posted them here. It silently redirected me to the .de domain without me even noticing. Talk about getting old... Of course, if the blog language turned into German I would have noticed, since it is my mother tongue (however, not my preferred one). Well, it's too late for me for editing it now, but, since you're the admin, go ahead. [Edited by Zerberus at 2012-03-22 01:31:20] |
Stephen Brooks 2012-03-22 04:08:21 | Those links work just as well. I was just surprised But I do wonder why blogspot have many domains that do exactly the same thing. |
