Hi Stephen,

I noticed last night the sample files are broken.. results.dat will not update..

a result from my results.dat file:
9.884079 (1504.0 Mpts) [v4.33a] {7479CEEB} #time=41072; by [TA]JonB

same result from current sample file:
9.884079 (1504.0 Mpts) [v4.33a] #time=41072; by [TA]JonB

If I understand correctly, the checksum has been deliberately removed from sampleresults to prevent the "accidental" error of a user uploading someone else's results for credit.

Hi Brian,

That may be the case, but muon will not accept sample results without the checksum.  I get errors for every result it tries to import saying they are invalid because checksum is {00000000}.

no intention of derailing this topic, but I'm somewhat confused about the sample file as well...

even tho each of my dpad machines are configured as follows:
Download sample results file after a number of days (0=don't): 3

the results are downloaded and in each of the directories as sampleresults.dat, yet my stats reflect numbers that lead me to believe the samples aren't even being used (very low muon percentage)

any thoughts?

I had thought I'd made the result _reader_ not care whether a checksum was present, but I'll test this again now.  I could have inadvertently broken that feature at a later stage.

Oh, err, and they've MOVED as well: you'll need to update the URL from which they download in config.txt.  v4.34 will be out soon, with those things written in already.

excellent Wink

I'll hold off on changing my config to point to the new sample location until I hear something about the result reader...

let us know.  thanks, Stephen.

Reading the results.dat results didn't require a checksum, but the "read" that happens while it is transferring sampleresults.dat to results.dat _was_ looking for a checksum, so that was where the problem was (I managed to replicate your rejected {00000000} error).  That is now fixed in the development source; v4.34 ought to be out tomorrow...

Do all of us need to use the new version...what will happen if I continue to use v4.33a. Is there major changes in the new version?  Roll Eyes
