Stephen Brooks 2013-03-10 18:37:56 | My desktop computer at home is nearly dead (a motherboard fan has stopped and it shuts off after 20 minutes with a slight burning smell). So muon1.dyndns.org won't be online until my new computer is delivered and I've installed all the services. |
Stephen Brooks 2013-03-20 22:12:04 | Because the company I've ordered from (Scan 3XS) are experiencing high demand, and because of the Easter weekend, the estimated dispatch date for my computer is now 2nd April. Then I'll be out of the country 4th-10th April so it's unknown if I'll get it working before mid-April. :/ But I'll see what I can do. Fortunately this shouldn't cause too much disruption to users, that's why we have redundant servers |
[DPC]white_panther 2013-03-26 16:52:44 | Mine P3 733 512mb, is still running for over 10 years |
Stephen Brooks 2013-03-26 17:14:41 | This one I got in May 2005, so it was nearly 8 years old, though I'd upgraded the chip to an AMD X2 4400+. BTW, check your e-mail regarding the Muon1 FTP server back-end script update. |
Stephen Brooks 2013-04-02 12:39:26 | Thanks, I can see you've updated your server. I now get bounced e-mails when I send one to you "195.60.xxx.xx does not like recipient. Remote host said: 553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1) Giving up on 195.60.xxx.xx." |
Zerberus 2013-04-02 14:42:40 | Looks like the muon1 page is currently out cold. "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 32 bytes) in /home/stephe1/public_html/muon1/hidden/readstats.php on line 11" |
K`Tetch 2013-04-03 00:16:58 | workign fine for me |
Stephen Brooks 2013-04-03 07:50:08 | I've asked them to increase the PHP memory limit. In the long term I might be able to find a way for the file load (it's loading rawstats.txt) to use less RAM. |
Stephen Brooks 2013-04-03 07:56:09 | They just apologised, apparently the lower 32MB PHP memory limit was a mistake on their part after installing some updates! I also rewrote the "rawstats.txt" parser to use slightly less RAM. |
Stephen Brooks 2013-04-03 07:56:44 | Er yes the time zone on this website seems a bit off too. These timestamps are coming out 5 hours behind where they should be. |
Stephen Brooks 2013-04-06 01:49:47 | Wonder if they've fixed the clock yet? [edit] OK good back on UK time now. |
Stephen Brooks 2013-04-10 20:50:01 | They're delivering my new PC on the morning Friday April 12th. Not sure how much I'll be able to set up immediately because I go to CERN the next week. |
Stephen Brooks 2013-04-13 18:46:05 | It's here and working. I managed to break a SATA power connector so haven't got all the hard drives in that I want, but I don't think that stops me setting up the FTP server and Apache. |
Stephen Brooks 2013-04-14 19:04:25 | Well, PHP doesn't appear to have a Windows x64 build on the official site. There's a user-supported forum with threads like these http://www.apachelounge.com/viewtopic.php?t=5042 for x64 PHP-on-Apache. I note Microsoft's weird "Visual C++ redistributable" is required too. What a shambles. I could just play it safe and install x86 builds of both since I those are "official" and I know they work at least back on XP. This may have to wait until next weekend. |
Stephen Brooks 2013-04-14 19:57:03 | Think I've got it back up again! The magic combination was PHP 5.4.8 Win64 from that forum page + Apache 2.4.4 win64 from the Apache Lounge (same site). httpd.conf needs a couple of entries to load the correct module and configure the server and webroot paths. GuildFTPd seems to be a dead project but I copied across my copy from the old disk for that (told it to import the old users etc.) and also DynDNS updater to give me the domain name. Might be worth people testing to see if this server is really doing what it's supposed to be... |
