I noticed I had a huge results file (80mb) so I figured I should send it out.  I can't get FTP to work on this machine unless I disable ICS, so I do that and run manualsend.  Instead of parsing the results into a big binary file and uploading it, it seems to be making little files (45-50 results) and sending them individually.  This means it is going to take a long time to send all the results, as well as me not knowing if it has sent all of them (what does it do when muon running in the background writes to the results.txt file?)

so far it has been going for 6 minutes, and has sent about 600 results (out of 25000).

Breaking into small chunks is by design (I'm glad it is not sending an 80MB file in one go).  HTTP would probably be faster than FTP uploading.  The program just repeatedly takes the first few results off the beginning of results.txt and it gradually gets shorter.  Muon1 adding results to the end shouldn't be a problem.

Ah I realised it was doing it with http, switched to ftp and usual behavior was shown.  I sent it in 2 x 40mb files instead

FTP sending will be deprecated at some point, though, so you better get used to HTTP!

Since I can use http, but not ftp with the normal setup, it may be the best way to do it.  Only thing is, I worked out using autosend results slows my output down significantly...

futher, I tried using the http version on my other machine, and it was much much faster....
Not really sure on why that would be though..

So does 4.43c use HTTP as standard now?  And does it use port 80?

Yes, I've had one or two requests for non-standard ports though I'm going to have to think a bit about how to implement that.  Of course from the client end it can use a proxy server on a different port.
