...are implemented.  They don't work _quite_ as well as I wanted (the alternating colours don't scroll with the messages due to some bug I am currently unable to comprehend) but overall should be adequate.  I've limited it to remember 5 lines of conversation, but if you like I can increase that.

One suggestion: don't allow posts that are just white space.

EDIT: Also disallow IMG tags.

Well I allow img tags and blank posts here.

Besides, the whitespace posts are useful in case anyone says something they'd rather have scrolled out of view...

There are easy PHP functions for getting rid of HTML stuff from strings, so if it ends up being abused I'll put those in.  Perhaps the worst problem at the moment might be people entering very-long-strings-with-no-spaces, which could mess up the table wrap.

Could you add a date next to the post, so you can see when it was?

I was wondering about that.  Maybe I'll ditch my current "red stripes" background colouring and colour the posts by 'freshness' instead, with a small indicator saying "2.3h ago" or something in the right-hand side to show when one was posted.

Okay, here we go.  I'm not 100% sure over using the mini-icons to say who posted because sometimes they are difficult to tell apart.  There is alt-text, but still... I could revert it back to using bold text except fainter than the main message text so the message stands out more.

There's a bug in the chatbox code: You're checking to see if the game is over too quickly.

This means that if you're writing something while someone else places a winning piece, your comment is lost.

I found that out myself earlier on.  It's a minor issue, though I think I can fix it by moving the 'post' code into a different if/else clause.

OK, the chat-post now ought to work even when the game was a win.  I broke it for about 10 minutes which is why there are some [X] things instead of mini-icons on a few posts right now.

New smiley code accepted, an alternate 'cool' and the double ones some people use get a new icon
 Smile)
Erm and infopop has replaced : ) ) by a Smile followed by a bracket, even though it's meant to be in a "code" tag.  Nevermind...

Yeah yeah, if you want to try and break the UBB.x bulletin board you'd be better off doing it over here.

You've reminded me there's a load of images in this site's "temp" dir that I have no idea what they are...

Well the first of those was the "science" screensaver on my toucan wallpaper.  The second one was me and someone else on BrowserWars when we were very bored.

I have no idea what this image will be:

Er that was ME you filled in the board with.  I'm generally very bored.

How strange.

Err and I just found I forgot to link the Mad guy with the smilies on my board.  You can now get him with
  :ma_d:
whichever pleases you at the time... (remove the underscore from 'ma_d' - I had to put it in to stop Infopop's smiley thing activating).

it's kinda annoying how the length of a smilie's string or something else is used to determine how much to cut off until you have to click on the ellipse.  count the smilie as one character and all will be good for now Smile

Fixed... or actually, hacked.  The form submission process turns my perfectly-good ° character into a ° diphthong of sorts.
