One of the users on ARS is asking
quote:
I have a couple machines running F@H, but only one per physical processor because QMDs eat so much memory bandwidth.  This means I have some HyperThreads going unused, as well as some CPU cycles not used.  Just wondering how DPAD would compliment F@H as a backup or secondary project (since I'd rather not use a BOINC client)?  Thanks.

So give me the scoop on this client/project.  Interger or Floating Point?
SSE/SSE2/SSE3 speed increases?
How does it scale, mostly with Processor speed, memory speed, memory size, cache size?
P3's okay, or must have P4's/Athlons and newer?

As far as I understand:
AMDs are best
P4s - just Ok
P3s - slowish
Memery speed - helps
Memory Size - makes no difference
Cache Size - ??????
Intenger point calculations only
No SSE used

Im I correct?

P3s are probably better *per MHz* than P4s but they are still slower.

Most of the rest of what you said is right, with the big exception that Muon1 is almost exclusively _floating point_, not integer.

I don't think cache size has much effect as the data is a few tens of MB.
